Chrysoprase is a variety of chalcedony, which in turn is a cryptocrystalline variety of quartz. Chrysoprase is known for its apple green color (although this can vary slightly), which is the result of nickel compound impurities. Boulder chrysoprase contains some of the host matrix in which the chrysoprase formed.
The gemmy, semitranslucent quality of these boulder chrysoprase triangles is indicative of their high grade. They are truly superb!
The accent stones are small, but are high quality grandidierite – a rare gemstone, that, due to lack of availability, is not often found in jewelry. I was lucky to get my hands on some! Grandidierite is blue-green, and the higher the iron content, the more blue the stones are.
These earrings are made with sterling silver. They are 2.25” in length, including the hand forged ear wires.
This pair is sure to garner compliments and start conversations. If you’re looking for a brilliant example of Mother Nature’s impeccable work, these are for you.
