“Dendritic opal,” as this material is commonly called, is most likely a variety of agate and not common opal at all, although sources report mixed findings on this material. It is likely agate and has been misrepresented as opal for so long that the name has stuck. Whatever it is, it is earth-mined and it is beautiful! It is like a wintery snowscape, with each stone as unique as a snowflake. These stones are suspended from handcrafted earring studs, made with a “rain” stamp. These earrings are sterling silver, oxidized and polished to bring out the detail. They are 1-3/16” in total length.
