This flashy rainbow moonstone has been “crowned” with embellishments and strung on a decorative chain. Rainbow moonstone is a type of feldspar, specifically plagioclase, that has a white to translucent body color and displays flashes of color (“schiller”) at different angles and in different lighting conditions. This schiller is caused by reflection of light off twinning surfaces within the stone, where layers of crystal come together. This pendant is 1.25” tall and 5/8” wide. The chain is 17” with an additional 2” extender chain. A small rainbow moonstone accents the end of the chain, and the necklace closes with a hand forged hook clasp. This piece is sterling, argentium, and fine silver. It has been oxidized to bring out the details.
