I'm not sure these earrings require much in the way of words, they really speak for themselves, but I'll give it a try! The stones used in these earrings are rock crystal. Rock crystal is what we call colorless natural quartz - and these specimens are exquisite! Eye-clean and beautifully cut, the focals are truly luxurious. The unique faceting style gives off a great sparkle! The focals are accented by little faceted rounds of more rock crystal, also very sparkly. They are carefully wrapped onto the ear wires - I call this design my "Carrie" earrings. These earrings are 14kt rose gold-filled. They are 1 and 3/8" long including the handmade ear wires.
If you'd like to learn more about quartz, I have written about it in my blog posts.
What does gold-filled mean?
Gold-filled components start with a base metal core and have a (usually 14kt) real gold coating, bonded to the core with heat and pressure. The component must be at least 5% gold by weight. This is NOT the same as gold plating. Unlike plated gold, gold-filled items are likely to last a lifetime and the gold will not wear off.
